SPECIAL MESSAGE FOR E-RATE CLIENTS
April 22, 2009
USAC has recently expanded the definition of web hosting to include Intranet web hosting and/or password-protected pages as eligible services.
SOCS is capable of being used as an intranet and does have the capability of providing password protected pages. However, costs for this functionality are not included in our approved cost allocation methodology for the 2009 funding year. As such SOCS clients receive the benefit of Intranet web hosting and/or password-protected pages at no additional cost.
All SOCS clients who applied for web hosting services under the E-rate program should receive a communication from USAC asking, “Does your request include charges for intranet web hosting and/or password-protected pages?”
Since SOCS is a flat fee based cost, the response to this question is “No”
