Phase 1 and 2 of our 3 part project to restructure user privileges is complete!
How will this change Central Services?
Phase 1: There will no longer be a Manager button. Features, Polls, Sections, Banners, Feedback, Bios, and Clear My Cache will be their own separate user privileges.
New Look: Previous Manager Menu:

How will this affect me?
If you are currently a Manager, you will no longer see a Manager button listed with your access privileges on the left column of Central Services. You will now see each of the options from the Manager menu listed as separate access privileges instead.
If you are not currently a Manager, you will see no change in Central Services.
How does this benefit me?
Site champions can now give users access to individual privileges that were previously combined within the Manager button. For example, you could now give a user access to Features without also giving him access to Sections or any other privilege contained in the Manager menu.
This will allow site champions to delegate Manager functions while maintaining control over which Manager functions to assign to users.
Phase 2: We also implemented a "Chief Section Editor" option, allowing Section Editors to share articles without re-assigning them to each other. For example, a school may have 3 second grade teachers share a second grade homepage article. You must edit a user's profile in order to give them this feature.

What's next?
Phase 3: All user access privileges will be section based rather than privilege based. You will assign users to sections and then select user access privileges that will correspond to those sections. For example, you could set up the high school principal with access to all High School sections and select Buttons, Banners, and Sections. The principal would only be able to create Buttons, Banners, and Sections for the High School sections to which he has access.
